Know The Origin, India - 26th September - 8th October
We went to India on the spur of the moment. We're very partial to the occasional adventure and when the opportunity arose to travel down and across India (Calcutta - Pondicherry - Tiruppur) with www.knowtheorigin.com - well, we just went for it. This whole escapade came about because Charlotte and Laura are the founders of a fashion label called Know The Origin (KTO). The point of KTO is to design genuinely great clothing in East London and then make it ethically in India using only Fairtrade factories and 100% organic cotton, so they know exactly where it came from, from cotton plant to factory floor.
Where do we come in? Well these lovely ladies also want you to Know The Origin of your clothing, so we went to take pictures of them and their clothing in the actual places it was made. And we met the thoroughly skilled men and women that made the clothing that will soon be found in your wardrobes (I hope!). This blog should give you a wee peak into this majestic country and maybe intrigue you enough about the origin of your clothing that'll you'll go and check out the KTO website to learn more.
They are launching their first ever collection on 23rd November 2016 and it will be two fold - 1. Great clothes for everyday wear, and 2. T-shirts and hoodies for wholesale (think university society t-shirts, church teams, band merchandise - unbranded but not unethical) - it's all great stuff and it'll be good for your soul, as you'll know you're doing your own little bit of good by supporting this wonderfully ethical enterprise, not to mention two really great ladies.
