While we were very sad when some of our besties left us in London in search of adventure, we were pretty excited that it meant we'd get to go and visit them in their new homeland. Myanmar is pretty far away (kudos if you already know where it is - I did not) but it is kind of glorious. We made two pitstops - one to Inle Lake with its as-picturesque-in-reality-as-they-are-on-the-postcards fisherman, and then on to Yangon, where our hosts have set up base camp for a couple of years. Inle was serene and watery and the fish was delish, and Yangon was busy and hot and exciting. We only got a whistle stop tour of this vast country (including a 14hour overnight bus journey that I'd rather forget) but we loved it and would go back in a heartbeat.
